How is chemotherapy administered?
Chemotherapy medication is usually given through a vein (intravenous administration) in a day-stay chemotherapy unit. A nurse will tell you what to expect and will administer the chemotherapy. You could be there for a couple of hours, so you may wish to have things with you to help pass the time.
If your chemotherapy treatment is more complex, you may have to stay in the hospital. Your nurse will explain how long your stay will probably last.
You will be given a telephone number to call in case you feel unwell at home or need advice about the side effects.
