Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy uses cytotoxic drugs to destroy cancer. "Cytotoxic" means toxic for the cells. These drugs do not only alter the way in which cancer cells grow and divide, but they may also affect normal cells.
Chemotherapy is not as effective in treating kidney cancer as targeted therapy or biologic therapy drugs. However, they may be administered as part of a clinical trial or in combination with a targeted therapy or alongside a biologic therapy.
