As mentioned before, surgery is one of the primary treatments for this type of tumor. Depending on the tumor's location and size, the following may be removed if necessary:

• ovaries and fallopian tubes
• uterus
• the omentum (the fat situated in front of the intestines); surgery to remove this is called omentectomy.

During surgery, samples (biopsies) will also be taken from any areas that are suspect and from lymph nodes.
